Barton provides details of each disaster and the challenges the Red Cross faced in their response both in the United States and abroad. Disasters covered include the Johnstown Flood, the Russian Famine of 1891, and the 1900 Galveston Hurricane.

First published in 1904, this edition is derived from the original book with a single black & white photo of Clara Barton. As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.
