About

A True Blue Story

A semi-autobiographical portrayal of the author’s own childhood with the main character, Laddie, named after Porter’s favorite brother as a child. Laddie falls in love with his neighbor, Pamela Pryor. His love is aided by his younger sister whom Laddie calls “Little Sister.” The farmland setting of the novel is inspired by the farm Porter grew up on and the enchanted forest setting was inspired by Porter’s free rein to explore the natural world as a child.

First published in 1913, this edition is derived from the original book with 4 black & white illustrations by Herman Pfeifer.  As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.
