About

Life at Plumfield with Jo’s Boys

A sequel to Little Women, Little Men recounts the life of Jo Bhaer, her husband, and the various children at Plumfield Estate School. The idea for the school was suggested at the very end of Little Women. Plumfield is not run like a conventional school. The children have their own gardens and pets and are encouraged to experiment with running a business (as well an occasional pillow fight on Saturdays.)

First published in 1871, this edition is derived from the book published in 1901 with 16 black and white illustrations by Reginald B. Birch.  As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.

Louisa May Alcott

stands as a revered American novelist and poet, renowned for her iconic literary contributions that have left an enduring impact on generations. Born in Germantown, Pennsylvania, Alcott's upbringing was steeped in intellectual stimulation, thanks to her father's association with transcendentalist thinkers like Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau. These early influences greatly influenced her worldview and artistic sensibilities.
