W. H. Weston’s retelling of selected lives from Plutarch including six Greeks (Aristides, Themistocles, Pelopidas, Timoleon, Alexander, Philopoemen) and six Romans (Coriolanus, Tiberius Gracchus, Caius Gracchus, Caius Marius, Julius Caesar, and Brutus).  Weston chose “...lives most likely to interest young readers, and which also exhibit...the beauty of patriotism and the nobility of the manly virtues of justice, courage, fortitude, and temperance."

First published in 1900, this edition is derived from the original book with 16 color illustrations by W. Rainey.  As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.
