The story of rural Indiana frontier life in the early 1800’s.  Balser lives with his family in a log cabin near the Blue River.  While only a teenager, Balser is very experienced in the rigors and dangers of frontier life. He encounters many adventures involving wild life, including the many bears that frequent the area.

First published in 1901, this edition is derived from the original book with over 40 black and white illustrations by A. B. Frost and others.  As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.
