The story follows the young protagonist, Rupert Holliday, a brave and resourceful Englishman who becomes a cornet (a junior cavalry officer) in the Duke of Marlborough’s army. Rupert, a strong-willed and courageous character, quickly proves his valor on the battlefield, participating in key engagements such as the Battle of Blenheim.
