About

(To Say Nothing of the Dog)

A humorous account of a two-week boating holiday on the River Thames by three men and a dog. Initially intended to be a travel guide, the book weaves local history with witty humor. The characters include the narrator, based on Jerome himself, and his two companions based on Jerome’s real-life friends. The dog, Montmorency is entirely fictional, but “as Jerome admits, developed out of the area of inner consciousness which, in all Englishmen, contains element of the dog.

First published in 1889, this edition is derived from the original book with 75 black & white illustrations by A. Frederics. As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.
