About the Author

Mary Johnston was a prolific American author and suffragist known for her historical novels and advocacy for women's rights. Born in Buchanan, Virginia, Johnston grew up in a family steeped in Southern history and culture. Her father was a Confederate soldier, and her upbringing amid the remnants of the Civil War deeply influenced her later works.
