Set in the Italian town of Messina, the story revolves around two pairs of lovers: Claudio and Hero, and Benedick and Beatrice. Claudio, a young soldier, falls in love with Hero, the daughter of Leonato, the governor of Messina. Meanwhile, Benedick, a witty bachelor, engages in a war of words with Beatrice, Hero's cousin.
First written around 1598-1599, this edition is derived from the book published in 1864 with 15 black & white illustrations by H. C. Selous. As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.
