Hector Malot

was a prolific French author best known for his socially conscious novels that often depicted the struggles of ordinary people. Born in the town of La Bouille in Normandy, Malot originally studied law in Rouen before turning to journalism and literature. His early career involved writing for newspapers and publishing serialized fiction, which helped him gain recognition in the competitive literary scene of 19th-century France.
