Watercolor portrait of Helen Hunt Jackson with scenes inspired by their writing.

Helen Hunt Jackson

was an American novelist, poet, and reform writer best known for Ramona and A Century of Dishonor. Her work joined literary expression with a growing determination to expose injustices against Native Americans. Through both historical argument and fiction, she sought to move readers beyond distant sympathy toward concern about government policy and its human consequences.
