The novel’s influence on the culture and image of Southern California was considerable. Its sentimental portrayal of Mexican elite colonial life contributed to establishing a unique cultural identity for the region. Ramona was immensely popular almost immediately upon its publication.
First published in 1884, this edition is derived from the book published in 1912 with 26 black & white illustrations. As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.
