Richard The Fearless

Historical fiction based on the life of Richard I, Duke of Normandy also known as Richard the Fearless.  Richard assumes the title of Duke at only 8 years of age after his father, Duke William is murdered.  The story follows Richard’s childhood both at home in Normandy and during his captivity at the Court of France and how he comes to embrace the values his father espoused.

First published in 1854, this edition is derived from the book published in 1910 with 32 illustrations by Dora Curtis. As always, this book is complete and unabridged.

Charlotte Yonge

was a prominent English novelist, known for her prolific contributions to literature, particularly in the genre of domestic realism and historical fiction. Born in Otterbourne, Hampshire, to a family deeply rooted in the Church of England, Yonge's upbringing greatly influenced her writing, which often reflected her devout Anglicanism and Victorian moral values.
