An epic poem in trochaic tetrameter about the fictional adventures of an Ojibwe warrior named Hiawatha and the tragedy of his love for Minnehaha, a Dakota woman. Longfellow’s poem is based on oral traditions surrounding the figure of Manabozho, but also contain his own additions. The story takes place in the Pictured Rocks area of Michigan and the south Shores of Lake Superior.

First published in 1855, this edition is derived from the book published 1906 with 16 color illustrations and 53 black and white illustrations. As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.
