About

A Comedy

A comedic play that revolves around the courtship and marriage of two sisters, Katherine and Bianca. Baptista Minola, their father, declares that Bianca cannot marry until Katherine, the elder and fiercely independent sister, is wed. Several suitors vie for Bianca’s hand, including Lucentio, who disguises himself as a tutor to get close to her, and Hortensio, who poses as a music teacher.

First written sometime between 1590 and 1592, this edition is derived from the book published in 1864 with 15 black & white illustrations by H. C. Selous. As always, this edition is complete and unabridged.
